5th & 6th Grade Ministry Route 56
Route 56 will not meet during the Summer of 2009
.
The ministry for 5th and 6th Graders.
Our society seems to have moved from the label of pre-teen to label the age of your son or daughter as the “tweenager” or the “tween” time! As you are well aware, there are so many influences in their lives that can be negative like the media and certain peer relationships at school. As the church, we want to combat that and help your child navigate these years more successfully! We will seek to provide a safe environment where they can be themselves, not feel pressure from older youth to act any certain way, meet Jesus every week, and grow in their relationship with Christ. In order to accomplish these goals and empower you to live out the vows you took at your child’s baptism, we have prayerfully decided to start a ministry that will include our 5th and 6th graders here at TRUMC and in the community (their friends, etc.).
Instead of your 6th grader moving right into the youth group, Sarah Fletcher will be working with some volunteers to provide a “mini-UMYF” type of experience for your “tweenager.” We are calling the ministry Route 56. Your 6th grader is then invited to youth choir from 5:30–6:30 p.m.
Each month, 56ers participate in activities that help them bond as a group, such as fellowship get togethers or games, service opportunities (visiting nursing homes, collecting and shopping for items for local charities, etc), and of course developing a life long faith by tackling relevant topics for their age group. This fall we talked about prayer and being good stewards.
Fall 2009 is right around the corner! We can't wait to see you!
