Weddings at TRUMC

Trenholm Road United Methodist Church is happy to offer its facilities to members, and others, who want a Christian wedding. We encourage members to use the church facilities when a wedding is being planned. Your wedding will be one of the very special memories of your life, and we hope that your planning and wedding will be a meaningful and beautiful experience which will continue to enrich your life together. We are, therefore, eager to work with you in making plans for your wedding, and offer the following suggestions, guidelines, and recommendations in the planning of your wedding in the church.

The important thing to remember is that in a Christian marriage two people are being joined together in Christ. A wedding ceremony, then, in the church is essentially a worship experience in which sacred vows are taken; and the rules governing the conduct of worship always take precedence over social considerations. Everything done in a church wedding ceremony should be appropriate to a service of worship.

We believe marriage was ordained by God and blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ. It has always been held in high honor by the church. We look upon it as a sacred and serious covenant made between two people, and pray that you may have a long and happy life together in the holy bonds of marriage.
