Sunday School

Trenholm Road United Methodist Church offers a wide variety of life-enriching opportunities for people of all ages and stages of life to grow spiritually and personally—including worship services and Sunday school, small group studies and activities, church-wide and community events and studies and a resource library. These diverse services and studies allow new passion, energy and potential to grow in people’s lives as they grow closer to God and develop relationships with others. Sunday School meets at TRUMC each Sunday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
For the Summer, we combine the children's and youth Sunday school classes.

In a shared leadership format, this discussion class explores our spiritual pilgrimage with God, through Biblical and modern literature.A high level of acceptance, integrity, sharing, fun social and service get-togethers. Singles and marrieds, in 30s-60s. 
 
 
Contemporary Issues     Leisure Ministries Top Floor-Room 317
Explores a wide variety of topics. They share ideas and show respect for contrasting view points. Class members build their community of faith through helpfulness, laughter and prayer. This group enjoys its mix of ages, backgrounds and marital status.
 

Faith Explorers               Leisure Ministries Top Floor-Room 310
Explores spiritual and religious topics from a Christian perspective. Open to different views and opinions. A class for adults wanting to have new understandings and a fresh look. Singles and marrieds.
 
 
New Life                         Main Church Building Ground Floor-Room 115
Mixed ages, couples and singles. Members enjoy creative teaching, group discussions and a diversity of topics related to living life as a Christian in today's world. On the first Sunday of the month, members share writings about spiritual stories. Every fourth Sunday is a lesson on wellness/wholeness. They also get together for ongoing spiritual mission projects and socials.
 
 
Spirit of Fellowship         Main Church Building Ground Floor-Parlor
Eclectic group, 30s-60s. The class loves to pursue spiritual growth and understanding in a relaxed atmosphere. Theological and social consciousness issues, topped with a big heaping of old-fashioned Christian love and nurturing. Lesson samples include: Reading the New Testament, Contemporary Christian Music, SC Mentoring Programs and Pray Without Ceasing.
 
 
Young Adults

 

Pathfinders                      Main Church Building Ground Floor-Room 112

Comprised of young adults, ages 20–30 somethings, who are single or married, with or without children. Taught by TRUMC member Tim Teaster. The Sunday School lessons are based on selected scriptural readings, and how they apply to the class members own faith journey.

 
 
 
Couples in Christ            Main Church Building Top Floor-Room 214
Newly-married, young-married and engaged couples exploring spiritual, social and currents issues as they relate to marriage. Socials at least once a month. 
 

Middle Adults 30s-50s
  
 
 
Hope                                  Main Church Building Top Floor-Room 215
Mostly 30s-50s, married, with children. Centers around Bible based applications to everyday life, including child raising and building relationships. A fun, family oriented class that enjoys being together, whether at a class social or working on a mission project. The friendly and comfortable atmosphere will surely make anyone feel welcome.

 

Believers                          Leisure Ministries Top Floor-Room 301

30s-40s. Down home Christian fellowship—not a quiet group. Class members and guest teachers draw the group into relating with Biblical issues and characters. A variety of self-contained studies easy to jump into on any Sunday.
 
 
 
Older Adults 60s and up

Like a big family around the dinner table. Semi-annual socials and selected service projects. Some outside speakers but mostly class members teach from the United Methodist Adult Bible Studies series. 
 
 
Medlock-Friendship           Main Church Building Ground Floor-Room 110
Known by many as the “senior class” of Trenholm Road, the class is composed of those in the 60+ age group,  many of whom are founding church members. Class teachers use the Adult Bible Study Series. Members are active in all areas of the church. The class is named after founding member Dr. Medlock and is a friendly caring group of people.
